2. Despite a great looking installation interface, there was no indication whatsoever in the way of an alert dialogue box or similar that any POTENTIAL issue(s) could cause installation conflict problems, etc.etc..
3. The ADD/REMOVE Programs area of Control Panel shows the installation of this download package (which I went ahead and 'removed' since it wasn't doing anything PRODUCTIVE, just occupying space, and being useless CLUTTER) but this same specific device's package installation in CONTROL PANEL's Device Manager failed to even show up as if it were never installed. Ur guess is as good as mine how/why that happened - but it did...
The Intel D915GVWB motherboard may have an optional Intel 82801FB chipset which provides the equivalent of the Intel 82562EZ PCI card. Does your D915GCWB, in fact, have the option RJ-45 connector? If so, go to:IntelĀ® PRO Network Connections LAN Driver to download the driver.
If your motherboard does not have such a connection, please tell us the make and model of the Ethernet expansion card you are using. Someone on the forum should be able to direct you to the proper support site.
Also, you should check if any of the drivers and updates on the Intel D915GVWB support site are newer the the ones found on your CD and install them.
Last but not least, you should install WindowsXP Service Pack 3. If you don't have the SP3 CD, either order it (US/Canada , Europe/Africa , Asia or South America ) from Microsoft or download the ISO (here ) and burn it. Be sure to select the correct language for your system. Note, to burn a DVD under WindowsXP, you will need to install the Image Mastering API v2 (KB932716) . You can use Alex Feinman's ISOburner v3.1 if you need software to burn it. It works under WindowsXP with the Image Mastering API hotfix as well as Windows Vista and Windows 7.
